David's Godfather Blog: Week 2: The Human Condition
After watching the scenes that we watched today, I have fallen in love with Don Corleone. That way that he cares about his family is something unimaginable. When his son Santino dies, he shows so much emotion that captivates the audience. In comparison to another work that we have looked at this year, I think that Winston lacks family in 1984. If he had a family to cherish and love him, life could have been better even though he was under a strong dictatorship (the Party). Within Winston, I think there is an internal conflict that makes him resort to try and defy the Party. When it comes to Don Corleone, he does what he has to do to keep his family safe and make sure justice is served.
